Who is Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya?
A humane doctor, a devoted father, and a man who refused to leave his patients.
For 28 years he served children and newborns at Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last major hospital in northern Gaza. When the war began he refused to leave, staying with patients and staff through shelling, the loss of his son Ibrahim, and his own wounding.
On 27 December 2024 the hospital was raided and he was arrested with members of his medical team. He has since been held without charge or trial.
